Screen is a time and site-specific installation using different kinds of light, crystals, objects and slowly rotating motors. The installation works on two levels, utilising both the pictorial Bookshop display window and the three dimensional space behind.
Screen will be illuminated everyday until January 5, from 16.00 to midnight.

Jens Reichert (born 1967) lives in Freiburg, Germany. He will be staying for the months of December and January at Skaftfell – Center for Visual Art as an artist in residence.
Jens works in the fields of sculpture, installation, painting, photography and acoustics.

During my first residency stay in Iceland in December 2008 I was quite impressed by the Christmas lighting. Even graveyards were covered with colourful little lights. A poetic and sometimes also kitschy contrast to the darkness that time of the year. Now five years later I try to take part in the Icelandic tradition of illuminating the windows of the houses.
